How to measure for curtains ordered online
Check coverage, panel count, drop and hanging method before choosing a color.

A curtain can look right in a photo and still arrive too narrow after gathering, too short, or with a heading that does not fit your rod. Decide what it needs to cover and how you will hang it first.
Write measurements in centimeters and label what each one means. Glass width, rod width and flat panel width are different measurements.
Decide what the curtain should do
A sheer fabric can soften light, but a dark photograph does not turn it into a blackout curtain or guarantee privacy when a room is lit at night. Decide whether light control, privacy or decoration matters most. Consider the sill, furniture and door swing before choosing the drop.
Width: measure coverage and count panels
Measure the section of rod or track you want covered, not just the window glass. A panel’s flat width is not its finished coverage once gathered. Follow the chosen fabric’s fullness guidance rather than a universal ratio. Two 140 cm panels contain 280 cm of flat fabric, but do not necessarily cover 280 cm after gathering. Confirm whether the listing includes one panel or a pair.
Length starts at the hanging point
Measure from the mounting point to the intended hem. Eyelets, rod pockets and track hooks each change where the fabric starts. Compare your measurement with the selected option’s diagram; check several points near the floor and ask the seller if the starting point is unclear.
Match the heading to the rod or track
For a rod pocket, check the pocket against rod diameter; for eyelets, check opening size; for a track, confirm hooks or clips. Do not assume pictured ties are included. A tension rod needs the right span, opposing surfaces and a verified load limit. “No drilling” alone says nothing about heavy fabric.
One last check of the chosen variant
Verify width × length order, hanging style, panel count and quantity in the cart. General listing text may combine several colors, connections and bundles. Save the diagram that corresponds to your selection.
White sheer curtain

A translucent curtain can soften daylight. The sheer fabric filters daylight while keeping the room bright.
Limitation: The illustrated fullness depends on the number and width of panels ordered.
Short rod-pocket café curtain

A shorter curtain covers part of a window while leaving another part open. It needs a rod that fits its top pocket.
Limitation: It does not cover the entire window or provide the same privacy as a full-length curtain.
Adjustable tension rod

Pressure between two opposing surfaces can support a suitable curtain without drilling. Choose the actual rod-length option for the measured span.
Limitation: A listing headline may combine several rod sizes; hold on every finish is not established.
Check the exact option before paying
Reopen the selected size and compare width, length, heading and panel count with your notes. Keep the seller’s diagram for the chosen option; a photograph of two curtains does not establish that two panels are included.
