USB-C hub for a desk: check this before connecting a monitor
A USB-C port does not always support video output.

A hub can gather a display, network, memory card and accessories onto one laptop cable. But video also depends on the laptop’s USB-C port; some ports handle only data and charging.
List the devices you actually connect each day. If you need only a mouse and keyboard, a large dock may add clutter.
Check both ends of the connection
Use the laptop maker’s specifications to verify USB-C video support, resolution and refresh rate. Check the monitor input and cable as well. A port on the hub cannot create a capability the laptop lacks.
USB-C hub with HDMI and Ethernet

The listing includes HDMI, network and a card reader. Consider it for a laptop that returns to the same desk each day.
Limitation: Many ports do not guarantee every combination works simultaneously.
Start with the laptop specification
Confirm the laptop’s USB-C video capability and the monitor requirements before comparing secondary ports. A hub with HDMI cannot supply video from a data-only port.
